VEGGIE FURNACE
For the Environmental Foundry Course, Senior Sculpture Student , Nina Chesakov recieved an Alfred Research Grant for Undergraduate Students (argus) to research and build a vegetable oil furnace fired by recyled veggie oil from the campus cafe. Using half of an old 55 gal drum lined with hand made refractory she melted and cast copper and bronze into clay molds.

Visiting Artist : Wayne Potratz
Wayne Potratz, Professor of Sculpture and Foundry at the University of Minnesota came as a visitng artist to Alfred Foundry. During his visit he demonstrated African, Indian , Meso American and Japanese Clay Mold techniques for casting iron and bronze.
